Located in the charming Surrey village of Ripley, a mere half hour from Central London, The Talbot is one of England’s most famous coaching inns. This 15th century inn, reputedly the spot where Admiral Nelson and Lady Hamilton began their infamous love affair in 1798, has been restored to its full potential with stylish contemporary design perfectly complementing the historic period features.
The bedrooms are furnished to a high standard with stylish design, comfy beds, Egyptian cotton sheets and hand-made furniture. Some of the rooms in the main building retain their wood beams and panelling, while rooms in the Ripley Wing are modern in design. The Stables rooms are equally comfortable and dog-friendly.
The restaurant is focused on timeless British classics, with an emphasis on seasonal ingredients. There are several different dining areas – from the main dining room with restored copper ceilings to cosy bar with open fire, real ale and 15th century beams, to the shady outdoor terrace in fine weather.
The Talbot at Ripley is perfectly situated for exploring RHS Wisley Gardens, a mere five minutes away. Also nearby are to Painshill Park’s 18th-century landscape gardens, Denbies Vineyard, drive Mercedes-Benz World and shopping in historic Guildford.
